Troubleshooting WinLGX

If you have issues with the WinLGX software, try the following steps.

Passive FTP

  1. Go to the Tools menu at the top of WinLGX.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Check the box, Use Passive FTP.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Close and reopen WinLGX.

Reset View

  1. Go to the View Menu at the top of WinLGX.
  2. Select Reset Views.

Clear Registry

Try clearing the WinLGX 7 registry on the computer.

Warning! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows to correct them. Use this tool at your own risk.

  1. Make sure WinLGX 7 is closed.
  2. Press the Windows button + R key on your keyboard to bring up the Run window.
  3. In that window, type "regedit" and hit enter.
  4. The Registry Editor window with a tree of folders will open.
  5. Open the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder (usually listed second from
    the top).
  6. Within that folder, open the Software folder.
  7. Within that folder, open the LEIGHTRONIX folder.
  8. And within that folder, right-click and delete the WinLGX 7 folder.
  9. Close the regedit window.
  10. Now reopen WinLGX 7.

Make Sure WinLGX is Up to Date

  1. Check your version of WinLGX by going to the Help menu at the top and selecting About.
  2. Compare it to the version listed on the LEIGHTRONIX Downloads web page.
  3. Download and install the newer version of WinLGX.
    1. Right-click the installer file and select "Run as Administrator".

Reinstall WinLGX

  1. Download WinLGX 7 from the LEIGHTRONIX downloads page at https://www.leightronix.com/downloads.
  2. Make sure WinLGX is closed.
  3. Install the downloaded WinLGX 7.
    1. Right-click the installer file and select "Run as Administrator".

Allow WinLGX Through Firewall

Be sure the WinLGX 7 is allowed in Window's firewall. The firewall can block some of the WinLGX functions.

Check Virus Protection Software

Check to make sure the virus protection software is not interfering with WinLGX.

FTP Allowed

Ensure that FTP transfers are allowed from your computer to the server you are using with WinLGX. WinLGX uses FTP protocol to transfer files and schedules between the computer and the server.
