When you try to add IN or OUT points using the WinLGX software editor, it puts zeros for the In or OUT points, doesn't show any timecode, or the timecode doesn't progress when the video is played. Here are some things to try.
Make sure you have the latest version of WinLGX
Check what version of WinLGX you are using by going to the Help menu and selecting About.
The latest version is 7.0.3.48. If you are running an older version the first thing to do is to update.
Make sure Timecode is set to display
- Go to the Tools menu and select Preferences.
- Then select the Preview Monitor tab at the top.
- Make sure the box is checked for Timecode Display.
- Click the OK button.
- Exit WinLGX and then reopen WinLGX.
VLC Player DLL File
VLC has problems with .m2t file's timecode; it needs a .dll file added to it. Typically when WinLGX has been installed, the installation adds this .dll automatically. In some cases, the PC permissions may have blocked that addition. Here is how to manually add the .dll file:
1. Press the Windows button + E on your keyboard to open a File Explorer window.
2. Navigate on the left to C:\Program Files (x86)\WinLGX 7
3. On the right in the WinLGX 7 folder, you should see a file called CopyVlcDll.bat. Right-click and Run as administrator. This will copy the libts_plugin.dll to the VLC demux folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins\demux\).
4. If that doesn't work, you may have to manually copy and paste the libts_plugin.dll file that's in the WinLGX 7 folder to the demux VLC folder located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins\demux\
