Video File Playback Issues with the NEXUS/UltraNEXUS
If you have problems with files not playing or playing poorly, here are some suggestions.
- The NEXUS and UltraNEXUS can only play MPEG2 files with a ".mpg" extension.
- The file's resolution cannot be larger than 720 pixels by 480 pixels.
- If larger, the file may not play or play with green lines.
- The video bitrate should not be larger than 10 Mb per second.
- Some possible symptoms if the bitrate is over 10 Mb per second:
- The file may stutter or freeze while playing.
- The file may not play at all.
- The file may lock up the player process, and no files will play until the unit is rebooted.
- The audio codec needs to be MPEG Layer II audio.
- If a file plays with no sound, ensure it has the correct audio codec.
- The file extension needs to be ".mpg."
- It will not recognize a file with a ".mpeg" extension.
- If the events log says "file not found."
- The file may have been renamed, and the schedule is looking for the old name.
- The file may have been deleted by mistake.
- The external hard drive that stores the video files may be turned off or have issues.
