      VieBit Closed Caption Functionality

      Information for the closed caption capabilities of the VieBit Live Streaming and VOD file playback.

      The VieBit server will display close captions if they are present in the live stream or VOD files. VieBit does not create closed captions. The closed captions must be created by another program, device, or closed caption service.

      Live Streaming with Closed Captions

      • If closed caption data is present in the video signal connected to the LEIGHTRONIX stream encoder (IncodeX Vier or IncodeX Stream), the VieBit Live stream will have the option for the viewer to enable the closed captions in the lower right of the live stream player window.
      • A "CC" symbol will appear in the player's lower right (see picture below).
      • The streaming player must be started before the closed caption enable option appears.

      Streaming with an IncodeX Vier

      • The IncodeX Vier can stream closed captions from the composite and SDI video inputs.

      Streaming with an IncodeX Stream

      • The IncodeX Stream can only stream closed captions from a composite video signal.
      • The IncodeX Stream's SDI input does not have closed caption capabilities.

      VOD File Playback with Closed Captions

      • If a VOD File contains captions or a .srt sidecar file was included when the file was uploaded, the option for the viewer to enable the closed captions will be available in the lower right of the VOD player window.
      • A "CC" symbol will appear in the player's lower left (see picture above).

      Uploading VOD Files with Captions

      Uploading with LEIGHTRONIX Video Servers

      • If a file contains closed captions, the captions will be included when the UltraNEXUS-HD series server or the NEXUS/UltraNEXUS series server is used to upload it to VieBit.

      Uploading with the VieBit Web Interface

      • If a file has closed captions embedded, you can also upload it from the VieBit web interface, and the captions will be included.
      • You can also include a .srt sidecar file containing captions when uploading a file to VieBit:
        • The .srt files are matched with video files with the same name (e.g., example.mp4 and example.srt).
        • Upload videos and associated .srt files in the same upload queue.
