If the IncodeX Vier stream or recording won't start, locks up, or a "Please plug in a video source before starting a channel" message displays, here are some items to check.
For more IncodeX Vier troubleshooting, see: Testing the IncodeX Vier Stream
There are generally four things that can cause a stream or recording to fail:
- No video signal present
- No audio present
- An incompatible signal
- The input setting doesn't match the actual input signal type
No Signal Present
- A message pops up that says, "Please plug in a video source before starting a channel."
- Ensure the video cable connected to the video input on the back of the IncodeX Vier has a video signal.
- To test, connect the input signal cable to a monitor.
Incorrect Input Setting
Ensure the Global Input Settings in the IncodeX Vier are set to the correct video and audio type for the input signal you are using.
- Access the Global Input Settings from the Dashboard page by clicking either settings gear icons.
- The global input settings will be in the upper right corner.
- Make sure the settings match your actual incoming signal.
- Video source options: HD-SDI or Composite
- Audio source options: SDI (embedded), Analog, or None
- Save any setting changes by clicking the save icon in the upper right corner.
- Return to the Dashboard by clicking the "X" icon in the upper right corner.
No Audio Present
If your audio source is set to SDI:
- Make sure the incoming signal has an SDI embedded audio signal.
- If it does not, the stream will not start.
- Set the audio source to None to test and see if the stream will start.
- This is only for a test - the stream would work but have no audio.
- If the stream works when set to None, you need to check your SDI audio signal for problems.
Incompatible Video Signal
- The IncodeX Vier cannot work with a 1080p60 (3G) or a 4K signal.
- Itis compatible with 1080i, 720p, or 480i.
- If the web interface locks up, in most cases, this is because the incoming signal is 1080p or larger.
If it has locked up:
- Disconnect the input signal.
- Reboot the IncodeX Vier from the front panel (press the green check button for 5 seconds).
- Start the stream with no video.
- The "Please plug in a video source before starting a channel" message should be given.
- It should not lock up.
- Then check to see if the input video is 1080p or larger.
- If it is, try setting the source device to 1080i or 720p and see if that works.
