If you’re having issues with the stream from the IncodeX Vier, below are some steps to try, including how to test the stream with VLC on a local computer.
For more IncodeX Vier troubleshooting, see: IncodeX Vier Stream or Recording Won't Start, or the Web Interface Locks Up.
Verify that the issue is not present in the video signal coming into the Incodex Vier:
- Try connecting that input cable to a monitor.
- Or check with the source device and ensure the signal does not have the issue.
Try restarting the stream:
- A Restart button will appear when you check the number box for the stream (1 or 3) on the Dashboard page.
Try rebooting the IncodeX Vier:
There are two ways to reboot:
- Hold the green check button on the front panel for 5 seconds.
- Go to the SYSTEM page from the browser interface and select REBOOT SYSTEM.
Try streaming locally and viewing with VLC:
- Send the point-to-point stream to a PC on the same local ethernet LAN and view it using VLC to test if there is an issue. (Instructions below).
Set the Incodex Vier's point-to-point stream to the computer's IP address:
- From the Dashboard, open the SETTINGS page by clicking the bottom Settings button.
- Under the Live Point-to-Point Settings, set the UDP address to your computer's local IP address*, and set the UDP port to your desired port (8080, for example).
- Click the Save icon in the upper right corner to save your changes and go back to the Dashboard screen.
- To start the point-to-point stream, check the "3" box and click the Start button at the top.
To view the point-to-point stream in the VLC Player
- On the local computer, in VLC, go to the MEDIA menu and select Open Network Stream.
- Type in udp://@{PC IP address}:{port}
- Example: udp://@10.127.25.7:8080
- Or just "udp://@:8080" should work.
- Click play.
*How to Find the Computer's local IP Address
The computer must be on the same network as the IncodeX Vier or accessible through your network, and the chosen UDP port must be allowed through your network.
For Windows:
- Window key + R to open the Run window.
- Type in "cmd" and hit enter to open a command window.
- Type in "ipconfig" in the command window.
- Under the Ethernet adapter Ethernet section, look for the IPv4 Address – that should be the PC's IP address.
For MAC:
Mac OSX 10.5 and Later
- Click the Apple logo in the upper-left corner of the screen, then click System Preferences, or click the System Preferences icon on the dock if it is present.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Ethernet connection on the left side of the screen.
- Select the Advanced button in the lower-right corner of the window.
- Click on the TCP/IP tab at the top of the window. The IP is displayed under Configure IPv4.
